FIA took PTI MPA of Jangir Tareen group Nazir Chohan in physical remand for two days with regard to the complaint of Shahzad Akbar against him.
On Tuesday, Chohan was taken into custody by the Lahore police in a separate case however he succeeded in getting bail from the court on the same day. Later on Wednesday, FIA arrested him and on Thursday presented him before the district court of Judicial Magistrate which granted the two-day remand and ordered the FIA to make him appear before the court on Saturday.
This is important to know that the FIA had requested the court for a remand of 14 days to complete the investigation however the court restricted it to two days. It was claimed that Chohan used his social media accounts for launching a hate campaign against Shahzad Akbar. The FIA counsel told the court that Chohan’s social media accounts would be recovered and become the part of the investigation.
Shahzad Akbar had filed an FIR against Chohan for launching a defamatory social media campaign about Akbar’s religious beliefs, sources claimed
According to the FIR filed by Akbar, Chohan had put the former’s life at risk by posting hateful content about his religious beliefs. Akbar added that it was done through a systematic and organized campaign. It was also narrated that the campaign was launched to discourage and blackmail him from performing his official duties of accountability against some corrupt and strong personalities.
The FIR also stated that some mafia members did not like him playing his role for eliminating corruption and ensuring accountability in the country and the defamatory campaign was directly connected to this mindset.
Chohan, on the other hand talked to media while he was being transferred to the FIA office on Wednesday and said that he was still firm in his perception about Mr Akbar. He also mentioned that his leader was Imran Khan and therefore he would meet him and share his opinion in this regard. He also added that the PM would have to make Akbar realize that Chohan was the winning MPA of Lahore.
