Shehzad Akbar confirmed that NCA London has transferred 140 m pounds to the account of Supreme Court of Pakistan while the remaining 50 m pounds will be sent upon the sale of property in London. Adding further Shehzad told media that the Federal Government has already requested the SC for the transfer of amount to the National Exchequer and this will be executed soon.
Altaf Ibrahim takes oath as acting Chief of ECP
The deadlock between Government and Opposition on appointment of CEC has turned the Election Commission of Pakistan non-functional with the retirement of Chief Sardar Muhammad Raza on Thursday. Although Justice Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi (Punjab Member) has taken oath to serve as an acting Chief of ECP today, he will not have the authority to form a bench for hearing the complaints and petitions and therefore things will remain pending until the new CEC is appointed.

The heat in National Assembly still goes on as Government’s important ally in Balochistan, BNP-M along with other opposition members, staged a sit-in right before the Speaker dais yesterday. Sardar Akhtar Mengal urged Suri to take notice of the illegal arrest of four women from the security forces in Awaran district without any warrants calling it a direct attack on Baloch traditions that gives special respect and regard to the women. Bashing the Government Mengal said that the current government is following the foot-steps of their predecessors by observing discriminating behavior with the deprived and ignored province of Balochistan. He strongly condemned the women-arrest and questioned about the writ of Civil Government while hinting about the ultimate involvement and powers of “unseen forces” in administrative matters.
The Deputy Speaker ordered the Interior Minister to come with all facts and figures about the said operation in the next session of National Assembly on Friday.

PM Imran Khan finally launched the “Digital Pakistan” program on Thursday calling it a key opportunity for women and youth for utilization of their expertise and skills to develop a “New Digital Pakistan”. Addressing the launching ceremony, Khan said that he wanted to start the programme right in the beginning when he came into power, however had to focus on stabilizing the economy and currency first to reduce the burden of debts on the country. Adding further Khan mentioned the importance of e-governance to eradicate the roots of corruption and establish a transparent and translucent system in Pakistan.
ADB to give Pakistan a loan…….
In an important development, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved an emergency loan of $ 1 billion for Pakistan for its performance to implement the IMF program successfully that resulted in improving the current account deficit, solidifying the revenue base and protecting the poor segment of the country from the impacts of economic crises.
Pakistan seeks a loan of $9 billion from China
Minister of Planning and Development Asad Umar has confirmed that the Government is trying to secure a loan of $ 9 billion at an interest of 2 % from China to complete the Main Railway Line project (ML-1). Briefing the standing committee in Senate Umar told that the ministry is designing new policy for the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) that includes
- No-funds allocation for already unapproved projects in the next budget
- No-inclusion of unapproved projects in next PSDP
- Inclusion of approved projects in PSDP after the acquisition of land for it. Selection of the fund provider of the project in advance (Centre or Province)
