ISLAMABAD – It seems as if PML-N is the single opposition party which takes the government to the task on several issues on every coming day. This time the PTI and PML-N are confronting each other the construction of roads.
The Prime Minister Imran Khan recently said that the PML-N was involved in making illegal money for themselves in road construction projects during their government. Responding to the said allegation Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal challenged the Prime Minister to write a letter to the Chinese President for an inquiry into the Multan Motorway.
Government is linking China and Army to corruption as these roads were included in the CPEC, Ahsan Iqbal claimed
He mentioned that the rulers were blaming China and the army by their allegations; as these roads were related to the CPEC projects. “The projects that China is proud of are being involved with corruption”, PML-N stalwart criticized. He added that by doing so the government was acting as the agents of the CPEC enemies.
“The Prime Minister must come forward and point out corruption in the construction of roads. The nation is being misled by making our projects controversial. There is a difference in the cost and completion of every project”, former planning and development minister regretted.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Ahsan Iqbal said that the Prime Minister in his speech was trying to tarnish the achievements of PML-N by making the infrastructure projects controversial; saying that corruption was taken place in road construction in the past. Ahsan Iqbal further said that the current government was not competent enough to start and complete any infrastructure project and was busy in criticizing the PML-N projects which were completed successfully.
PML-N is trying to hide its corruption behind China and Army as these roads projects had nothing to do with the CPEC, Fawad Chaudhry replied
Replying to Mr Ahsan Iqbal statement, the Federal Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the PML-N is acting as the enemy of the country for its political gains. “Ahsan Iqbal should first decide who is running the PML-N”, PTI stalwart added.
“First they should take a vote of confidence within their party and then ask the Prime Minister for a vote of confidence. PM Imran Khan has been elected not only through the Assembly of Pakistan but also through people’s votes. He expressed these views while talking to media on Thursday.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that it was beyond comprehension why PML-N wanted to link China with its corruption. Whenever it came to corruption in power plant projects, they linked it to China. The Sharif family’s corruption had nothing to do with CPEC projects; Fawad clarified.
He added that there would be investigations into corruption. The construction of roads was related to their corruption but the CPEC projects could not be related to what they had done with the national exchequer. He hoped that Ahsan Iqbal and PML-N would refrain from such behavior which was guiding them to hide behind other institutions.
Earlier addressing the function, the Federal Minister for Information said that cricket is the only sport in Pakistan that connects the whole of Pakistan, from Karachi to Peshawar and from the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan to the sea of Gwadar.
